Daily Campus Visit

We invite you and your family to experience the University of Utah in person. This is an excellent way to discover all the opportunities available to you and check the "fit" between you and the University. A personal visit gives you insight to the University by interacting with students, faculty, and staff, and allows you to check out our facilities first hand. We have specialized sessions for both incoming freshmen and transfer students.

Campus Visit Agenda

A typical two-hour campus visit includes:

  • Information session with an admissions counselor to discuss admission requirements, scholarship deadlines, financial aid and housing. They will also go over programs like Honors, LEAP, Study Abroad, etc., and how to get involved on campus, i.e. the Bennion Center and ASUU (Student Government).
  • Campus tour with a current student to see where you might be taking classes. You will also see the service buildings you will need, like the Student Union, Bookstore, Library and Student Services Building. This is a great time to talk with a current student about what life at the U is really like.
  • Residence hall tour to explore where you can live, learn and enjoy campus life to the fullest.

Schedule Your Campus Visit

You can schedule a two-hour campus visit Monday through Friday (with a few exceptions) and occasionally on Saturdays.

For Incoming Freshmen

Weekday tours begin at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., Monday through Friday. Sign up online.

For Transfer Students

We have a special session and tour for Transfer Students, which begins Monday through Friday at 1:00 pm. Sign up online.

Exceptions:  Occasionally, campus visits are not available due to holidays, university closures, and when staff are not available. The following are cancelled:

  • Due to a campus-wide earthquake drill, the 9am and 11am visits on April 17 have been cancelled. However, the 1:00pm session is still open.

Saturday

On certain Saturdays our office is open from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday tours begin at 10 a.m. and are  by reservation only for either freshman or transfer students. There will also be an Admissions Counselor available to meet with students without an appointment.

Parking

Your visit will begin at the Office of Student Recruitment and High School Services, located on the west end, lower level of the Olpin Union Building (Room 80). Park in visitor parking just east of the Olpin Union; validations will be provided at the end of your visit. Please do not park in any metered parking, since your visit will last longer than the metered time and it's likely you will be ticketed.

Staying Overnight?

If you plan to stay overnight in Salt Lake City, we recommend the University Guest House on the University of Utah's campus. The University Guest House offers wonderful accommodations at a reasonable price.   It's also minutes from the Office of Student Recruitment and High School Services, the TRAX line, and many campus activities.  Find additional locations close to campus.
