Part of the mission of the University of Utah is to reach out to first-generation, low-income and underrepresented populations. A broad student body enriches the education experience and success of all the members of the University community--both student and teacher--as well as enhancing the U's excellence as a university. Below are a listing of resources and programs in place to assist in achieving that goal:
The Getting U Ahead workshop series were designed for first-generation and low-income students, including underrepresented populations in higher education, i.e. women, minorities, etc, interested in attending college. High school students in grades 9-11 who want to get a head start on their college planning process are invited to attend these free workshops in room 238 of Orson Spencer Hall on the U of U Campus.

The primary mission of the Center for Ethnic Student Affairs at the University of Utah is to provide support to students of color. CESA promotes an environment of acceptance that honors all forms of diversity, and student groups on campus hold annual high school conferences to encourage prospective students of color to learn more about college. The CESA High School conferences for the 2011-2012 academic year are complete. Please check back in the fall for the schedule of conferences for 2012-2013.
